We’re big on anniversaries here at VDB, honoring them, celebrating them, or forgetting them (see Invasion of Iraq, The). One of the honoring kind: April 7th was the 1-year anniversary of the legislature’s historic vote on same-sex marriage rights, and April 20 is the 10-year anniversary of Howard Dean’s signing of the civil unions bill. To make it easier to celebrate and think through what’s been accomplished, as well as what hasn’t, UVM and Vermont Law School are holding a joint academic conference designed to fall right in the middle of these two historic dates. April 15 in South Royalton, April 16 in Burlington. And many happy returns, same-sex couples.
